Hallucinations

What Healthcare Practices Need to Know

Let's talk about something that sounds a little strange:

AI hallucinations.

No, we're not talking about AI seeing things that aren't there.

We're talking about something much more important for healthcare marketing.

Sometimes, AI can give you information that sounds completely accurate… but isn't.

And that's where things can get tricky.

Especially when you're creating marketing for a healthcare practice.

Wait… AI Can Make Things Up? Yes.

And here's the part that catches people off guard:

It doesn't necessarily sound like it's making things up.

AI can produce a beautifully written paragraph. It can sound professional. It can use medical terminology. It can confidently explain a procedure, treatment, condition, statistic, or study.

And it can still be wrong.

This is commonly referred to as an AI hallucination.

The Biggest Problem With AI Marketing?

It Can Sound Like Everyone Else.

There is something happening in marketing right now that I think every healthcare practice owner should pay attention to.

AI has made it incredibly easy to create content.

Need a Facebook post?

Ask AI.

Need a blog?

Ask AI.

Need an email?

Ask AI.

Need a few ideas for your website?

Ask AI.

And honestly, that's pretty amazing.

As someone who has been in the marketing business for 30 years, I've watched technology change our industry over and over again. Every new tool has made certain things faster and easier.

AI is no different.

But there is a problem.

When everyone has access to the same tool, it's very easy for everyone to start sounding the same.

And that's not good marketing.

Your AI Can Write It.

But Who Is Checking It?

Let’s be honest. Artificial intelligence has changed marketing.

There’s no denying it.

Today, a healthcare practice can open ChatGPT, type in a question, and have a blog post, social media caption, email, or even an entire marketing plan appear on the screen in seconds.

That can be pretty impressive.

And as a marketing company, we would be lying if we said we don’t use AI. We do. It has some tremendous advantages. It can help with brainstorming, organizing ideas, researching topics, getting a first draft started, and making certain parts of the marketing process more efficient.

But there is something we have learned very quickly:

AI can write it. That doesn’t mean it’s ready to publish.

And that distinction is becoming more important every day.

If you've been to the Ai Healthcare Marketing website, you may have noticed something about our name.

Ai Healthcare Marketing.

And with everything we're hearing about artificial intelligence these days, you might assume the "Ai" stands for exactly what you think it does.

Well...yes and no.

We are "Ai," but we're not "Ai."

Confused?

Let us explain.

We Are “Ai,”
But We’re Not “Ai.”

Confused?

Let Us Explain.

Your Staff Is Part of Your Marketing

Whether You Realize It or Not

Your staff.
Yep.

The people answering your phones.
The person checking patients in.
The person explaining paperwork.
The person returning calls.
The person answering questions at the front desk.
The person responding to an email.
The person who says, "I'm sorry, we're booked for three weeks," and what they say next.

All of these people are part of your marketing.

Even if they never create a single social media post.
Even if they don't know the first thing about SEO.
Even if they couldn't tell you what a keyword is.

They are still marketing your practice.

Because marketing doesn't stop when someone picks up the phone.

In many cases, that's when the real marketing begins.
